According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for review by the presidential administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House judiciary committee, stated in a official statement that the prison’s warden was assisting the convict with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unclear, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

Raskin states that, per the insider, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” private meetings for Maxwell and her visitors.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when communications failed for other prisoners, she was provided directions about instructing her associates to contact and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to Maxwell, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Additional Privileges Reported

Further perks allegedly granted to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative added.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in emails from prison that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, she was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for financial and non-violent crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Epstein case by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the Epstein investigation and amid widespread conjecture around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while facing trial on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, the congressman also announced that he had sent a letter to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and urged the president to deny Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that the official attend a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with Blanche or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in prison, and whether she, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the inquiries by the specified date.

Last month, the US supreme court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her sex-trafficking conviction.
